Battery Hacks for Your Phone!
The performance of your battery depends on several factors: the model, your usage, the age of your Phone and many more. But with a few simple settings, you can already save battery.
Screen brightness
- Android: Lower your screen brightness. You can also enable adaptive brightness under Settings > Display > Adaptive brightness so your screen adjusts automatically.
- Apple: Reduce brightness under Display & Brightness. You can also enable auto-brightness and use Dark Mode to save additional battery.
Optimized Charging
- Android: Go to Settings > Battery and device care > Battery > More battery settings and turn on optimized charging. Avoid charging from 0% to 100% and try not to leave your phone charging overnight.
- Apple: Enable optimized charging under Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging. Similarly, avoid full charge cycles and overnight charging.
Location services
- Android: Go to Settings > Location and turn it off, or manage permissions per app under App permissions.
- Apple: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services and turn it off or customize access for each app.
Switch off push notifications
- Android: Manage notifications under Settings > Notifications > App settings and disable unnecessary ones.
- Apple: Go to Settings > Notifications and choose which apps can send notifications.
Auto lock
- Android: Set auto lock under Settings > Lock screen > Secure lock settings (recommended: 30 seconds).
- Apple: Set auto lock under Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto Lock (recommended: 30 seconds).
Background updates
- Android: Disable background data for apps via Settings > Connections > Data usage > Mobile data usage.
- Apple: Turn off background app refresh under Settings > General > Background App Refresh.
Turn off unnecessary wireless connections
- Android: Turn off WiFi, Bluetooth, and hotspot when not in use via the control center.
- Apple: Turn off WiFi, Bluetooth, and AirDrop when not needed via the control center.
Software updates
- Android: Check for updates under Settings > Software/System Update.
- Apple: Check under Settings > General > Software Update.
WLAN instead of mobile data
- Android: Use WiFi whenever possible to reduce battery usage.
- Apple: Connect to WiFi instead of mobile data whenever available.
Quit apps
- Android: Open the overview screen and swipe away apps to close them.
- Apple: Swipe up from the Home screen and close apps by swiping them away.
Additional tips
- Apple: Use original Apple charging cables and adapters for better battery health and longevity.
